Prior to arriving at Lehigh in 2009, she served in the Department of Political Science at Howard University. She is the author of Privatizing the Polity (SUNY Press) and co-author of Getting a Cut: A Contextual Understanding of Commission Systems and Gratuity: A Contextual Understanding of Tipping Norms from the Perspective of Tipped Employees (both published by Lexington Press). She has published in Public Personnel Management; Journal of Public Management and Social Policy; Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice; Justice Research and Policy; Journal of Public Affairs Education; Policy Studies Journal; Social Science Quarterly; and American Politics Research.
