“The Pennsylvania House Fellowship Program’s purpose is to provide students with a short, in-depth, and hands-on look at the workings of state government. During a 13-week semester, the selected students will work with experienced staff of government and policy on: drafting bills and resolutions, letters and memos, and policy research. They also will attend weekly workshops, presentations, and tours, and have the opportunity to attend committee meetings and hearings, as well as House Session. Their final assignment is to develop a piece of legislation, from coming up with an idea through introducing it as a bill.
Since its creation in 1982, over 400 students have completed the Pennsylvania House Fellowship Program. Many of these students continue their education in schools throughout the country. About half of the students who completed the program have found employment in and around state government.”
